At The Five Loaves Farm Bakehouse, our story isn’t just about bread—it’s about God’s faithfulness.
What began as a simple sourdough starter during one of the hardest seasons of our lives became something we never could have imagined. After the birth of our second child, I found myself walking through postpartum depression, searching for peace and purpose in the middle of long days and sleepless nights.
Somewhere in that season, I discovered sourdough.
There was something deeply healing about the slow, intentional process. Feeding a starter, waiting patiently for dough to rise, and creating something with my hands reminded me that God is always at work—even when we can’t see it. What started as baking bread for our own family soon became baking for friends, neighbors, and eventually our community.
As demand grew, God continued opening doors we never expected. My husband, Larry, eventually left his career so we could build this dream together. Today, our bakehouse is truly a family business, with our children growing up surrounded by flour-dusted countertops, the smell of fresh bread, and the joy of serving others.
Our name, The Five Loaves, comes from Luke 9:16, where Jesus took five loaves and two fish, blessed them, and multiplied them to feed thousands. That story reminds us daily that God can take what seems small, place His hands on it, and use it for something far greater than we could ever accomplish on our own.
Every loaf we bake is handcrafted using long-fermented sourdough, simple ingredients, and a whole lot of prayer. We believe bread has always been about more than food. It has a way of slowing people down, gathering families around a table, and creating space for conversation, celebration, and community.

As a family, we believe in slow living, gathering around the table, and using our gifts to serve others. Every recipe, market setup, late-night bake, and early morning prep is a reflection of the life we are building together.
